SAGE Lab Research Featured: Advancing Personalized Puzzle Systems for Dementia Care
Updated: Apr 23
Our very own research team, led by Dr. Junhyoung "Paul" Kim, Dr. Marcia Ory, and Dr. Gang Han, has been featured in Texas A&M Stories. The highlight focuses on our innovative project utilizing "Jigsawdio," a multi-sensory puzzle system designed to enhance cognitive function and emotional well-being for individuals living with dementia.
Supported by a $2.5 million grant from the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the second phase of this research focuses on the large-scale implementation and accessibility of this technology. Our team is working to evolve the system into a modular software compatible with iPads and Android tablets, while also adding multi-language support, including Spanish. By integrating personalized life memories—such as family photos and recorded voices—this tech-based intervention aims to provide cognitive stimulation, comfort, and vital social connections for seniors.
